St George’s Round Church is home to an inner-city, classical Anglican parish with a rich liturgical practice and a ministry of prayer and service to north-end Halifax. The community that surrounds the church is very mixed and many areas are currently under redevelopment. The Round Church and the Little Dutch (Deutsch) Church are National Historic Sites. The parish has a large hall, which houses parish offices and outreach ministries such as our weekly Soup Kitchen, and a Rectory which is currently home to an intentional Christian Community.
Our congregation is diverse socially, politically, and spiritually, and as a community we are not easily defined or labelled. We are committed to using the Book of Common Prayer and its lectionary, to upholding our rich musical tradition, and to maintaining an Anglican presence in the community through our outreach and ministries.
We are seeking an experienced rector who can — with wisdom — minister to our congregation in all its diversity and who will — with boldness — remind us of our calling as parishioners to commit ourselves to the work of the Church. We seek a spiritual leader who is devoted to a life of prayer, attends to their own spiritual health, and who will, through word and sacrament, be the presence of Christ to us.
