Supporting Anglican worship on the Parrsboro Shore for over 200 years
We are, by the grace of God, a caring community, celebrating the Lordship of Jesus Christ, sent to share, through the power of the Holy Spirit, His love with others. As a community in Christ, we are committed to the belief that all people are created equal before God.
Our parish was founded in 1786 and is one of the oldest Anglican parishes in Canada.
We welcome you to worship with us on Sunday mornings at 11:00 at our beautiful and historic church at the corner of Main and Church streets in the heart of Parrsboro. From late fall until Easter, we worship next door at St. George’s Hall. The Hall has a full kitchen and also is used for church suppers, bazaars, fundraisers, and community events such as the Parrsboro Farmers’ Market. It provides a home for our community Food Bank and is available to groups and individuals for rentals.
Three other churches are part of our parish: Holy Trinity in Fox River, St. Mark’s in Moose River, and Christ Church in West Bay. We share ministry with All Saints Church in Springhill. As a welcoming Christian community, we also offer opportunities for Bible study and spiritual development.
We strive to be an open and welcoming Christian community in the Anglican tradition.
Services are held at St. George’s on Sunday mornings at 11:00–Morning Prayer, led by our Lay Ministers on the first and third Sundays of the month; Holy Communion, celebrated by our rector, the Reverend Dr. Brian Spence, on the second and fourth Sundays. When there is a fifth Sunday in the month, we hold a joint service and pot-luck lunch with All Saints, Springhill. Services are also held at Holy Trinity, Fox River; St. Mark’s, Moose River; and at Christ Church, West Bay several times each year. Bible Study series are held throughout the year.
The main entrances to St. George’s church and hall have ramps for wheelchair access. An accessible washroom is available in St. George’s Hall.
