Abuse prevention and risk management training is mandatory for all those who work with children, youth, and/or vulnerable people as well as all who are in positions of trust and authority generally. This training helps us to create church communities that are safer and where we are better able to meaningfully care for one another and those in the wider community. Bishop Sanra wrote of this in her pastoral letter "A Call for a Safer Church" in November of 2024.

While this training can take many forms, the two primary training requirements in our diocese are Safe Faith Training and Diocesan Sexual Misconduct Policy Training. These are both online training modules, and you can sign up to be registered for them here

  • Licensed Clergy (including CAPP and Honourary Clergy)
  • Postulants
  • Applicants to the Priesthood/Diaconate 
  • Divinity Student Placements in Parishes
  • SafeR Church Committee members
  • Wardens
  • Treasurers
  • finance committee members
  • parish council members
  • licensed lay ministers 
  • lay pastoral visitors
  • administrative staff/volunteers
  • music directors/organists/choir leaders, etc.
  • volunteers and staff involved with all forms of children’s, youth, and family ministry
  • Those involved in refugee support
  • Paid parish and synod office staff

Safe Faith:

  • Envelope secretary
  • Offering counters
  • People with cemetery related responsibilities
