The Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island is seeking a Controller who will provide leadership, direction, management, and vision to our financial, operational, IT, risk management, and reporting systems to ensure the financial strength and operational efficiency of our organization.

We are The Anglican Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, serving and sustaining 90+ parishes and over 200 congregations as Christ-centered, mission-minded communities. Founded in 1787, we are a faithful, innovative, courageous, and compassionate organization. We value diversity, integrity, grace, generosity, and transparency. We care deeply about our work, our people, our communities, and our world. We host a positive and accessible work environment. We offer an exceptional benefits and pension package with the possibility of a hybrid working environment.

Reporting on a regular basis to the Executive Director, the Controller is ultimately accountable to the Bishop and to the Synod. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping financial and operational strategy and contributing significantly to continued growth. You excel at working collaboratively with individuals, task groups, and committees. Your exceptional interpersonal skills include demonstrated success building trusting, inclusive relationships.

As the ideal candidate, you are a proven financial and operational leader with a Canadian accounting designation and several years’ experience leading a finance team. You have a thorough knowledge of CRA registered charity requirements and proven experience contributing to overall strategic direction and business planning. You excel at providing expert advice, financial insights, and business analysis that support the achievement of strategic growth while safeguarding assets and maintaining financial stability. You have a talent for identifying operational efficiencies and are process driven, tech-savvy, and results-oriented.

Our Diocese is on the cusp of transformational change. We are being called to greater diversity of membership, wider participation in ministry and leadership, better stewardship of the environment, and a stronger resolve in challenging attitudes and structures that cause injustice.

If you share our values and are eager to help us lead over 20,000 Anglicans in vital, community-based ministries that transform lives and society, we would love to hear from you.
