Announcements from the Bishop’s Office
Today is Administrative Professionals’ Day. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of all of the administrative staff and volunteers across the Diocese, both in our Synod Office and in parishes throughout Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Thank you for all that you do! Diocesan Centre/Synod Office staff during the lockdown While the Diocesan Centre remains open from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm daily (items can be left through the mail slot inside the front doors) staff have been encouraged to work from home as much as possible and attend the office only when necessary. In the office or at home we are still here for you, and we thank you for your patience. Email and phone messages are checked and responded to regularly. Saying Goodbye to our Diocesan Controller As many of you are aware, the Diocesan Controller, Glen Greencorn, is retiring at the end of this month. Fortunately, we were able to hold a goodbye gathering for Glen last Thursday (appropriately distanced and wearing masks) just before the lockdown for the Central Zone was announced. We thank Glen for the many contributions he has made to our Diocesan life and his support to parishes across the Diocese in his time with us and we wish him a happy retirement. Glen’s email account: ggreencorn@nspeidiocese.ca will continue to be monitored and redirected to an appropriate staff member. Rest assured, that the finance functions of the Diocesan Office (including payroll) will continue uninterrupted until a new Controller is recruited. Diocesan Council HighlightsApril 23-24, 2021 Diocesan Council Highlights April 2021Diocesan Council met on Friday night April 23 and Saturday April 24 via Zoom. We were led in worship by the folks from the Prince Edward Island Region. On Friday night, the meeting began with a presentation by Susan Barthos, who is a change management consultant. She was contracted to review the situation at the Diocesan Office following the retirements of Jan Connors, Gordon Redden, and the upcoming retirement of Glen Greencorn. Susan affirmed that the diocese, and the diocesan office is a state of major transformational change. The ongoing pandemic, coupled with a new bishop and the retirements of several people with large areas of work means that there is a lot that is shifting.

Covid-19 Update - Nova Scotia | Prince Edward Island
Covid update – NS:Below is information circulated to faith leaders today updating us on changes announced yesterday regarding enhanced lockdown measures throughout all of Nova Scotia. I recognize that for many of us, these measures will cause anxiety and concern. As I noted in an update to clergy last week, it has been a long year and these extended restrictions, while necessary, are nonetheless discouraging. This will be our reality for the next few weeks at least. Please do your part to keep yourself and others safe: stay home as much as possible, limit your social contacts as recommended, get tested for Covid-19 as part of your regular preventative strategy, and, as you’re able, get vaccinated. I know the recent number of positive cases of Covid-19 in our province is discouraging, but I also know that we have done well in responding to Public Health guidelines. Let’s do our best to take care of each other.

SIX-MINUTE STUDY #249
TWO WORLDS - HYBRID WORSHIP
More and more people are connecting with our congregations in online worship. As the year progresses, we know that we will gradually move to returning to in-person liturgies. The question is often raised: how can we do both? And how can we do both well? A critical piece to that work of figuring out the 'how' is first to be clear on our 'why'.

“Sea Sunday 11th, July 2021"
We will soon have a piece for Sea Sunday which we would also like to share with our church partners to assist in creating awareness as well as participation by way of sermons and prayer. We appreciate participation on any level on July 11th. “Sea Sunday 11th, July 2021" The second Sunday in July, is when we come together across the globe to celebrate the role seafarers play in our daily lives. To thank them for the hardships they face and the sacrifices they have been forced to endure due to the Covid lockdowns.
