Beyond a warm smile and 'hello', how can we create an environment in our churches that helps people sense true belonging? Read this Canadian article from Wycliffe College, Toronto, written by missiologist and researcher, James Watson, called Welcoming Newcomers.

Notice of Opening
In accordance with Diocesan Canon 25, The Right Reverend Sandra Fyfe is accepting applications for the following position: Rector, Full--time, for the Parish of Lunenburg, NS. St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia is in search of a full-time Rector to help lead us in the journey to an engaged and invigorated parish. In 2018, we created a Shared Vision through a highly inclusive process under the umbrella of the vision statement … “We are a Christ centered, caring community shaping our future, preserving our heritage and living our faith word and deed.” However, much has changed in the world in the past 6 years, and we look forward to working with a new Rector to revisit, refresh and/or rewrite our Shared Vision as we pave a positive path forward together. Anglicans Powering PotentialCapella Regalis - seeking transportation assistance Capella Regalis Choirs is a Canadian charity offering free choral music education in the Anglican choral tradition for interested boys and girls in the Halifax metro (HRM) area. They rehearse weekly at Saint Andrew’s United Church and regularly sing Choral Evensong and perform concerts at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Halifax. As part of its efforts to be fully accessible to all children interested in joining the choirs, Capella Regalis runs a Transportation Program to help children who would not otherwise be able to participate get to and from weekly rehearsals. The need has recently grown, as more would-be choristers requiring transportation assistance express an interest in joining Capella Regalis! More drivers are needed to expand the Capella Regalis Transportation Program. Please consider whether this is a ministry you can offer. The time commitment is 1 – 2 hours a week. The rehearsals are Tuesday and Friday afternoons at St. Andrew's United Church, corner of Coburg and Robie, so pick-up is in the late afternoon of these days in the HRM. A criminal record check and proof of $2 million liability insurance are required. Please feel free to e-mail Vanessa (vhalley@capellaregalis.com) to learn more about the Capella Regalis Transportation Program in support of a fully accessible choral program for boys and girls. Anglicans Powering Potential (APP) will Say Yes! to Kids 2024!
Anglicans Powering Potential (APP) will Say Yes! to Kids 2024! APP's Say Yes! to Kids 2024 project is our diocese's own Community Roots Day Camp with its emphasis on resilience for kids and community support for them. Common sense (and lots of research!) tells us that people of all ages thrive when they have a sense of belonging. Let's help make sure that the kids benefitting from the Community Roots Day Camp in their part of our diocese receive that resilience-building sense of belonging. Support the Anglicans Powering Potential Say Yes! to Kids project. This is possible right now with a cheque payble to the Anglican Foundation of Canada, and SYTK Community Roots Day Camp in the memo line. The cheque can be mailed to the Anglican Foundation of Canada, 80 Hayden St., Toronto, ON M4Y 3G2. The APP webpage for the SYTK 2024 project should be available soon so that contributors can donate on-line, if that is preferred. Stay tuned! |
