Lunch & Learn: Sun., Nov. 3/24; 11:30 – 2:00; St. Luke’s Hall, 9 Veterans Avenue, Dartmouth

St. Luke's, together with Anglicans Powering Potential, are delighted to welcome Sue Bookchin, the Executive Director of Be the Peace institute (https://www.bethepeace.ca/, as well as an outstanding presenter and facilitatorto St. Luke's for the Lunch & Learn on Sunday, November 3.

Sue Bookchin of Be the Peace Institute was a key presenter at Nova Scotia's Mass Casualty Commission (MCC) addressing the linkages between gender-based violence (GBV), gender discrimination and generalized violence. So powerful was Sue's presentation that much of the exact language she used in her MCC presentation was incorporated into the text of the final Report and contributed to the conclusion that GBV is an "epidemic" in Nova Scotia (a reality later endorsed by the NS Legislature), requiring "a whole of society response".

With great appreciation, St. Luke’s parish did say "Yes" to the Anglican Foundation's Say Yes! to Kids 2024 campaign to raise funds in support of therapeutic play and supportive counselling for the children and youth who have experienced violence in a domestic situation and who have now found safety in nearby Bryony HouseSt. Luke’s thanks all donors to its SYTK 2024 appeal and is happy to have this opportunity to present a cheque to Bryony House - Where Hope Lives!

So, please join us on Sunday, November 3; 11:30 am – 2:00 pm; St. Luke’s Hall, for this special Lunch & Learn.
